    To make the spline to connect to 3d projected circle you have to enable in settings -> allow 3D sketching of lines and splines. Than it all works as by magic.

    If you choose the “Sweep” command over the “Loft” command, that gives you an extra option. You can write an angle and have your two wires twist along the path and give a very nice realistic look at your wires! For multi turn, enter some ting like “360*3” Try it out!. ;)

    Nice tutorial thank you.
    I learned with Autodesk Inventor to use perpendicular constraint of first & last points to their respective surfaces it will always create more realistic in-out transitions.

    Thanks for the tutorial. I'm creating a design where i need the wires to be flexible. It's like an extendable arm (think adjustable tripod stand) that can be shut, and it has a wire running along it, so i need the wire to be able to bend when the arm is retracted, and straighten when it's extended.

      Well, they've been expanding into 3D printing and more general makery (instead of just electronics) for quite a long while now... But I'm sure it doesn't hurt that Eagle is now owned by Autodesk and integrates directly with F360, making it an indispensable tool in the product design pipeline. :D

    really useful, modelling a lot of internal components, this is very useful as you say, for cabling lengths! its one of the bits i have overlooked previously when making cases etc is the wires between components. be nice if you could dimension a circle off the mm2 of the cable.

    Nice video.
    Two quick questions. How do you type in a command? You used it to bring up the 3D sketch projection.
    Second question, why did you use a loft over a sweep?

    • @erdemk0
      @erdemk0 6 лет назад +3

      Jared Armstrong use “s” key on your keyboard it brings up the search box , you can search for a command there. And for your second question, you’re right it would be better to use sweep over a loft if you want to sweep a custom profile. However in this case pipe command would have been the best.

    Very useful stuff thanks I was just posting a request for a good tutorial on the Fusion forums the other days of how to route wires properly because up until now I'd be eye balling it and it's look like crap.
    Only thing I need to know now is how to make a wire a little perpendicular to a connector up to a point to make it look more pleasant like XT60.

    Concerning the Projected 3D Object.
    I for one wasn't able to connect the spline from the 1st to the 2nd, 3D projected, sketch - Only after making a 3rd sketch with two 3D projections from the 1st and 2nd sketch was I able to make the connection.

    When I was trying to move the sketch at the point, to reshape the wire, the wire body doesn't follow the sketch. The sketch alone is moving. What can I do to prevent it?

    I know it'll be a hail marry if this gets answered but ill ask anyways. If i have the cable connecting to two different objects and then i move another either my using the move tool or using a joint that moves/ rotates the object, will the cable adapt to that or will my entire model brake since the cable won't extend and stuff. Is there any possible way for me to change the physics of the cable if that is the case?

      To make the spline to connect to 3d projected circle you have to enable it in Preferences -> General -> Design -> allow 3D sketching of lines and splines

    Thank you for your useful tutorial.
    I did as you say in this vid, and the wire is produced well,
    but when I move one of the objects, the wire don't move with the object,
    wire is not attached to the objects, can't figure out the problem,
    what's wrong?

    • @adafruit
      @adafruit  6 лет назад

      Could be a sketch setting. If the wires are created via projected sketches, they should move with the components, but only on certain axis (like X and Y but not Z, for example).

    This is great tutorial which explains why I'm so frustrated with it. I used the "Include 3D geometry" command to project the start point onto my current sketch, but I cannot get the spline tool to snap onto the start point because it's on a different sketch plane. - What am I doing wrong ??

    • @gavinsv
      @gavinsv 6 лет назад +3

      Problem Solved. You need the "3D Sketch" checkbox ticked in the sketch palette ticked

    • @BenMillen

    Hi! Thank you for tutorial. Why loft and not sweep or pipe?

    • @mhgscrubadub9917
      @mhgscrubadub9917 3 года назад +1

      Sweep uses one sketch and one line where loft uses two sketches and a line. Gives you more freedom with how you constrain the sketches. Manipulating which way a sketch faces and interacts with the model is way easier than a point.

    Hey man, I tried this to make a curved wire in 3 different axis....it´s terrible...Is there a way to guide this spline more accurately?

    • @adafruit
      @adafruit  6 лет назад

      +Denis Sato I agree it takes lots of futzing to get a decent curve. I’d say try reducing the number of points to just two. Then tweak the green handles so its not so constrained.
